Clear It Out Challenge - Thanksgiving

Does anyone know what time it is?

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Once again, it's that time over at Clear It Out Challenge.  Time to hang up the duster and get out the pens and paper . . . and get your crafty on.  And usual, our fearless leader has come up with an awesome challenge this time . . . so easy, peasy!!!  Are you ready?

Okay, it's challenge time!

Theme:  Thanksgiving
Stash:  A leftover sentiment from other projects

You have 2 weeks to play (till Oct. 14th)

This week's challenge is a great challenge for me because I always have leftover things from projects . . . especially sentiments.  I am always mixing and "matching" mine instead of using what comes together or I end up not wanting to use what I have and make another.  I think most of us do that one time or the other, right?  Okay, you don't have to admit it. :)

Anyway, when I saw what the theme was for this challenge and then this turkey image from Bugaboo, I decided I was gong to do a layout this time round.  I mean, I have so many Fall and Thanksgiving pictures from throughout the years that still need scrapped. And who wouldn't want this cute little turkey with a pumpkin on one of their layouts?  I used an old title from "Fall" paper collection by Little Yellow Bicycle as my stash item.  I know it says "Happy Autumn" but when I think of Thanksgiving, I think of Fall or Autumn.   Here's how my layout turned out:

(Closeup)

Copics used:
Pumkin - YR14, YR18
Turkey feathers - YRY23, YR25, R46, R59
Turkey body - E13, E15
Beak - Y15,Y18
Grass - YG11, YG13, YG17
Halo - BG10, BG000, BG0000

Other supplies -
Stickles - mahogany, orange, and yellow
H2O in Black China
Walnut Stain Distress Ink

All-in-all I am pretty happy with the way this turned out . . . though I do feel I need to add a little more of something?  Oh, right the photos!  lol   (NOTE: I didn't add photos to the final layout before taking its picture because there is a person or two who would prefer not to have their photo out on the World Wide Web vis my blog.)

And one more thing before I go, a friend of mine and fellow CIO DT member (Sharon) is having a super, ubber, fabulous giveaway over at her blog - "A Piece of My Heart"- for her "300 Follower Giveaway".  So head on over there to enter (there's 7 different ways to enter and you can enter some of them as many times as you want but only once a day).  And tell her I sent you. :)  And GOOD LUCK!!!

Challenge(s) entered:

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

PS  Turn in on Saturday, October 5th, as I will have some super, duper, exciting news to share with everyone. :)

Mid-Challenge Inspiration --- Boy/Masculine

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!! Finally, it is now my favorite type of weather . . . mid to low 70s during the day and mid to high 40s at night.  And do you know why it is my favorite of weather?  It is because I get to where my favorite type of outfit . . . jean shorts with a sweatshirt. :)  So casual and COMFY!!!

But enough about the weather and clothing.  I am here today to to remind you that you still have a week to complete a project for Clear It Out Challenge.  The theme this time is boy/masculine . . . and the stash item is punches or die cuts.

And for a little inspiration, here's a card I made:

Copics used::
YG11, YG13, YG13 (grass, pinwheel, stripe on shirt)
B93, B95, B97 (shorts)
YR14, YR15, YR18 (pinwheel, stripe on shirt)
R24, R27, R29 (shoes -- I love red tennis shoes)
BG0000, BG000, BG10 ("halo" or sky around image)
E00, E01, E11 (skin)
BG10 (shadowing for the "white" socks)
E23, E25, E27 (hair)

This image if from Digi Darla called "Blowing Paper Windmill" and when I saw it, I thought it would work great for this challenge.   I used my rectangle die cut from Spellbinders for cut out the image and for the mat behind it.  Other supplies I used were:  "Little Boy" paper collection by Echo Park; washi tape (blue chevon & orange stripe); twine from The Twinery"; and a miscellaneous button.

All-in-all I am pretty happy with the way this turned out . . . I was a little unsure at first about using a plaid for a background, but I think it turned out okay.  What do you think?

Till the next time I'm up in the night. Kathy

Clear It Out Challenge - Boy/Man

Does anyone know what time it is?

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!  Once again, it's that time over at Clear It Out Challenge.  Time to put away the groceries, order up a pizza for dinner and get out your crafty toys . . . and get your crafty on.  And usual, our fearless leader has come up with another awesome challenge this time . . . so easy, peasy!!!  Are you ready?

Okay, it's challenge time!

Theme:  Boy/Man
Stash:  die cuts or punches

As many of you are doing, I have been busy with back-to-school stuff . . . summer if officially over but the memories are not forgotten.  One in particular for me is going to the Iowa State Fair. And what better way to keep those memories close by than to make a mini album?  So when I saw this image of a little cowboy by QKR Stampede, I knew exactly I had to use him on the cover of my "Iowa State Fair ABC" mini album.

So getting out some of my die cuts I bought just for this purpose, I got to work on my cover.  Please note that since I don't have the inside pages done yet for this mini, the cover isn't "completely" done . . . I plan on adding ribbons, bows, twine, etc. to the album rings.  But here's how it looks so far:

Copics used:
B93, B95, B97 (jeans)
E33, 335, E37 (chaps & vest)
R24, R27, R29 (shirt & boots)
E42, E44, E47 (hat & rope)
Y15, Y26 (hair)
E00, E02, E11 (skin)
100 (belt)

Other supplies used:
cardboard (from an old box)
die cuts (bark, ABCs, animals)
VLVS chicken wire stamp
Walnut Stain distress ink
Farm Girl paper collection by October Afternoon
Natural twine by The Twinery

To make this cover, I took an old box and cut it to the size I needed for a front and back cover.  Then using my chicken wire stamp, I inked it in various spots.  After that, I tore off some of the paper fromt the cover/cardboard to show the "middle" of it and inked it to distress the cover.  Then added my papers, die cuts and image.

So far I am in love with this cover . . . but I can hardly wait to finish the inside pages so I can complete the front cover with ribbon & twine on the album rings. :)

Till the next time I'm up in the night. Kathy

Mid-Challenge Inspiration

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!  Kathy here wanting to let you know you still have a week to get your projects in for the challenge on Clear It Out Challenge blog.  And for a little inspiration, here's another card I did:

Copics :
Y21 (belt buckle)
G09 (belt)
YG09 (eyes)
R24, $27, R29 (outfit/boots)
C3, C5, 100 (hair)
E00, E02, E11 (skin)

This image is from The Stamping Chef.  When I saw this image "Bring It On Christmas"  a few months ago along with the digital papers, I knew I had to have it . . . but didn't know when I would  be able to use it.  So after a dozen or so tries and hours upon hours of coloring the girl image to get her hair just right, I saved it for just the right thing which worked out PERFECTLY with this week's challenge for the stash item.  (NOTE: This image comes both black & white and pre-colored and because I liked the colors so well, I decided to try to copy the colors they uesd...and I used the digital papers that came along with the images.)

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

Clear It Out Challenge

Does anyone know what time it is?

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Okay, it's challenge time!

Theme:  Thank You
Stash:  Use something special you have been saving

You have 2 weeks to play (till Sept. 15th)

This week's challenge is a great challenge for me because I can always use "Thank You" cards.  But then, who doesn't?  It seems like I am always running out of them and making them at the last minute.  Or as I did in the past, made a few dozen for a special couple in my life to send out to friends and family thanking them for their support during a very difficult time in their lives.  But no matter what the occasion, I am always needing MORE.

So when I saw this image from Bugaboo, I knew it would be a perfect image that would work for any occasion in need of a "Thank You" Card.  And I decided to pull out some paper I had been saving for just the right thing . . . "Gabrielle" by Bo Bunny.  I remember seeing this collection when it first came out several years ago and being so disappointed about missing it because it SOLD OUT right away. And then being over the moon when CropChocolate.com got some in . . . though we were only able to get 1 collection per person.  But I took it!  Such luscious colors of brown, cream, peach and a minty green.  It worked perfect with the flower image I picked.  Here's how it out:

Copic markers used:
flower - YR61, YR65, YR68
middle of flower - Y08
leaves & grass - G82, G85
ladybug - R22, R24, R27
"halo" around image - BG10, BG000, BG0000
Other supplies: rhinestones (to make squiggles)

All-in-all I am pretty happy with the way this turned out . . . so much so, that I'm going to make a set of these to either keep to have on hand or to give as a little gift for someone special.  Who knows? maybe it will be you sometime.

And one more thing before I go, a friend of mine and fellow CIO DT member is having a super, ubber, fabulous giveaway over at her blog - "A Piece of My Heart".  So head on over there to enter (there's 7 different ways to enter).  And tell her I sent you. :)  And GOOD LUCK!!!
